Bolstering economic cooperation between Djibouti and China.

On Monday, November 27th,2023, at Red Sea DPFZA Chairman, Mr. Aboubaker Omar Hadi, had a fruitful meeting with Mr. Liang Hao, the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Djibouti. 

The discussions aimed at bolstering economic cooperation between Djibouti and China.

Talks focused on exporting diverse products from Djibouti, including salt, perlite, and incense. Notably, from the Port of Ghoubet which dedicated infrastructure will facilitate the export of these goods.  Chairman emphasized that Djibouti is striving to become the logistical and production hub its unique geographic location and assets grants. 

Mr. Liang reiterated China's keen interest in leveraging Djibouti's strategic location, especially its access to the Red Sea, as a vital gateway for exporting Chinese products to Africa.  Mr. Hao also mentioned that the PRC is actively working to concretize numerous bilateral trade agreement which ought to attract more investors in DIFTZ.

The meeting delved into sustainable energy, exploring wind, geothermal, and solar energy. This hints at potential collaboration for developing and implementing sustainable energy projects, showcasing a comprehensive approach to enhancing economic ties between Djibouti and China.
