DIFTZ to facilitate cross-border trade
In the framework of the First Regional Conference on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Chairman hosted H.E Mohamed Warsama Dirieh, Minister of Trade and Tourism of Djibouti, His Excellency Mohamud Ahmed Adan, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Federal Republic of Somalia and His Excellency Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the AfCFTA, at the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone (DIFTZ).
The Secretary General of the AfCFTA first toured the DIFTZ, where he observed its advanced infrastructure, operational efficiency, and capacity to facilitate large-scale trade. He was briefed on the zone’s integrated approach to logistics and its pivotal role in connecting regional and global markets.
The meeting served as an important platform to discuss pivotal issues concerning trade and economic integration within Africa.
This visit shows the essential role of free zones, such as the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone, in advancing trade facilitation and fostering economic growth across the continent.
The Chairman emphasized how this free zone serves as a model for facilitating seamless cross-border trade by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, efficient customs operations, and an enabling environment for businesses.
