The Djiboutian president launched the start of the construction of a ship repair yard.
On Thursday, Nov 26th, the President of the Republic, H.E Mr Ismail Omar Guelleh launched the start of the construction of a ship repair yard.
The event was also marked by the presence of the Djiboutian 1st Lady of Djibouti, Mrs Khadra Mahamoud Haid, of the 1st Minister, S. E Mr Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, members of the government and of the parliament as well as the DPFZA Chairman, M Aboubaker Omar Hadi.
This construction site will be built by DAMEN SHIPYARD, a Dutch company with international reputation in this area. The construction period will be 2 years.
On July 29th, 2019, the President of the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority, Aboubaker Omar Hadi signed the contract with DAMEN to build this Dry Dock.

Damen will provide training on ship repair skills and knowledge to 10 Djiboutian engineers and a “train to train” basis that will train another 10 engineers.
This project is expected to attract more ships and will directly create 300 jobs and 1500 indirectly.
