DPFZA Participates to the Expo Osaka 2025
As part of his mission to Japan, the Chairman took part in the Expo Osaka 2025, on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Djibouti. The delegation led by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Said Warsama, Minister of Trade of Djibouti, and H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Bileh Doualeh, Ambassador of Djibouti to Japan.
The Chairman was welcomed by Mr. Koga Yuichiro, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and State Minister of the Cabinet Office, along with several distinguished Japanese figures including:
-Mr. Tetsuro Yano, President of the Association for African Economic Development;
Accompanied with three former ambassadors of Japan to Djibouti, namely Mr. Arai Atsuo; Admiral (Ret.) Otsuka “Man of the Sea” Umio; Mr. Keiichi Hara.
During the ceremony, Chairman highlighted Djibouti’s strategic position at the crossroads of Asia, Europe, and Africa. Following the ceremony, he participated in the official luncheon hosted by the Japanese side, which gathered many personalities, including:
-Mr. Yuichiro Koga, State Minister of the Cabinet Office
-Mr. Tomoaki Shimada, Member of the House of Representatives
- Mr. Izuru Kobayashi, Director-General, Secretariat of the Headquarters for the World Expo 2025, Cabinet Secretariat
- Mr. Hiroshi Ueda, Chief of Protocol, Osaka Prefectural and City Government
-Mr. Yoshikazu Noda, Mayor of Higashiosaka City
-Mr. Tetsuro Yano, President, Association of African Economic Development (AFRECO)
-Mr. Tatsuo Arai, President, Japan–Djibouti Friendship Association.
During the luncheon, discussions focused on promoting Japanese private-sector investment in Djibouti and East Africa Region in the renewable energies and the new promising fuel alternatives such as Hydrogen, Ammonia, Methanol. The Chairman emphasized also the importance of human resource development and training prior to the implementation of major infrastructure projects, underscoring that long-term success depends on local expertise and technical capacity.
He also shared his recent experience attending a graduation ceremony at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria, where he celebrated a group of four female marine engineers officers and eighteen female deck officers—an all-women class sponsored by DPFZA for professional maritime training in Egypt.
The Chairman further recalled the initiative launched by the late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, encouraging Japanese companies to expand their footprint abroad through Public–Private Partnership (PPP) frameworks, supported by the USD 8 billion Japanese trade insurance.
