  • Djibouti Ship Repair Yard to Provide Maintenance Services for Abu Yasser Logistics

    On 14th January, the Chairman of GHIH signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Yasser Logistiques.

    The agreement establishes the utilization of the Djibouti Ship Repair Yard. Under this MoU, the Djibouti Ship Repair Yard will provide repair and maintenance services for Abu Yasser’s fleet of livestock carriers.

    Abu Yasser Logistiques, recognized as one of the region’s leading exporters in the livestock sector, will benefit from the facility’s advanced capabilities to ensure the efficiency and reliability of its fleet operations.

  • DDIP : A Strategic Hub for Livestock Trade in East Africa

     

    On 14th January, the Chairman received Mr. Yahya Al Sayadi, an Omani CEO, at RSW. He was accompanied by Mr. Ibrahim Rashid Alalawi, Head of Business Development at Sohar Islamic Bank.

    During this visit, the Omani CEO presented a project proposal to establish a quarantine zone for livestock, including a monthly 42.000 livestock heads: 30.000 goats and sheeps, 9000 cattle, and 3000 camels, at Djibouti Damerjoq.

    The annual livestock heads export are more than 500.000 destinated to the Omani market.

  • Bridging East Africa : The Djibouti-Kampala Corridor Project

    On 13th January, the Chairman received Major General Moses Rwakitarate, Coordinator of Vital Assets and Strategic Facilities at the Coordination Center of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), at RSW.

    The meeting focused on discussions regarding the development of the Djibouti-Kampala corridor. This important infrastructure initiative was first addressed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in May 2019 between Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Uganda.

  • U.S Coast Guards Visit

    On 8th January, the Chairman received a delegation from the US Coast Guards, led by Lieutenant Commander Jenny Lane.

    The primary objective of this meeting was to exchange best practices in port security and compliance with international standards, particularly the international Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

    They chose the Ports of DMP, Tadjourah, SGTD, and the Horizon Oil Terminal to audit.

     

     

  • Chairman engages in discussions with the Chinese Ambassador

    On the 30th of December, the Chairman received at Red Sea World, His Excellency Mr. Hu Bin, Ambassador of China to Djibouti.

    The discussions focused on the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) held last September, during which China committed $50 billion in financial support to Africa (among other things for infrastructure), over the next three years.

    Djibouti Ports Authority and Free Zones submitted 5 projects aimed at positioning Djibouti as the regional hub for logistics.
