From Ports to trade zones : A strategic visit to Djibouti by a Russian delegation
On April 10th, the Chairman of Red Sea World had the honor of welcoming H.E Mrs. Viktoria Abramchenko, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russia Russian Federation, and H.E Mr. Mikhaïl Golovanov, Ambassador of Russia to Djibouti. The delegation was led by Hon. Mme Safia Elmi Djibril, First Vice-President of the National Assembly of Djibouti.
The delegation commenced their visit at the Doraleh Multipurpose Port, a state-of-the-art facility designed to handle a variety of cargo types, including containers, and bulk goods. It serves as an important hub for regional and international trade, enhancing Djibouti’s strategic importance in global shipping networks.
Following this, the delegation proceeded to the tower of the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone at PK23. There, they received a comprehensive presentation on the vision and initiatives of the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA), which focuses on fostering economic growth through the development of modern port infrastructure and free trade zones.
By exploring key infrastructure like the Doraleh Multipurpose Port and the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone, the delegation gained valuable insights into Djibouti’s pivotal role as a regional trade hub.
H.E Mrs. Viktoria Abramchenko expressed a strong interest in positioning Djibouti, particularly the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone, as a key distribution hub for exporting sunflower oil and grains/cereals to the East African region.
These engagements lay the groundwork for enhanced cooperation, particularly in logistics, trade, and investment opportunities, aligning with both countries' long-term development objectives.
