Boosting regional connectivity, economic growth and Food Security
Yesterday morning, the chairman received at Red Sea World Abdillahi Aden Youssouf, Deputy Minister of Trade of the Somali Region of Ethiopia, and Ahmed Welli Hassan Charmarke, President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Somali Region of Ethiopia.
The discussions focused on improving the regional connectivity and transit time in order to be more competitive in the global market. The region is home to over 7 million livestock and encompasses 12 million acres of irrigated pastureland.
The chairman recommended establishing a quarantine center for livestock in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. He also highlighted the importance of increasing agricultural production in the region, particularly focusing on wheat and sorghum cultivation.
These efforts are expected to play a vital role in advancing the region’s food security and economic growth.
