Chairman Hosts a Pakistani delegation from the Foreign affairs at Red Sea World

During the meeting, the Chairman presented the concept of the Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) from selling Djibouti. This approach facilitates the prepositioning of high-value goods within the DIFTZ, allowing to store closer to the COMESA market and enhancing trade efficiency. The discussion highlighted specific goods targeted for prepositioning and export, including fresh produce such as vegetables and fruits, as well as rice and poultry.
The Pakistani delegation expressed keen interest in securing warehouse facilities within the DIFTZ to support their trade operations and further strengthen the ties. The Chairman also elaborated on the Sea-Air Cargo concept, a logistics innovation that serves 28 cities across 25 African countries. This system significantly reduces transit times and costs for regional and international trade.
A major highlight of the discussions was the Trans-African Railway initiative, connecting the Red sea to the Atlantic Ocean through Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Nigeria, Central African Republic and North Cameroon.
The Chairman underscored the transformative potential of this project in revolutionizing intra-African trade and boosting economic integration.
Pakistan and Djibouti currently have a robust trade relationship valued at USD 100 million, the aim being USD 1 billion in the next 5 years by using the robust Djibouti ports and free zones infrastructures.
