DPFZA Chairman receives a Japanese Businessmen

The Chairman met at Red Sea World, a Japanese delegation led by H.E. Hara Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to Djibouti.

The delegation included representatives from companies such as MITSUBISHI ETHIOPIA TRADING PLC, MITSUI & CO., ITOCHU CORPORATION, and JT INTERNATIONAL.

Discussions focused on positioning Japanese SMEs within the DIFTZ and leveraging the Cost Insurance Freight (CIF) concept, which simplifies trade logistics by covering insurance and freight in delivery costs, reducing risks for international investors.

The Chairman emphasized Djibouti’s role as a gateway to East Africa and its strategic access to the COMESA market of 21 countries and 600 million people, presenting significant opportunities for Japanese enterprises.

Aboubaker Omar Hadi mentioned the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster that occurred on March 11, 2011, in which Djibouti sent salt to help appease the radiation.

The Japanese Businessmen visited the SGTD, DMP, and Djibouti International Free Trade Zone (DIFTZ), gaining insights into the advanced infrastructure managed by DPFZA.

During the visit, they enjoyed the scent of the incense of Djibouti found at Ali Fareen.

To this day, there are no Japanese companies within our free zones.
