DPFZA Receives GCL Chairman to Discuss Regional Energy Cooperation
Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) received the Chairman of GCL, Mr. Gongshan Zhu, and his accompanying delegation.
As part of their visit, the GCL team visited Damerjog Industrial Park, where the delegation visited the oil jetty and the industrial showroom, providing a firsthand overview of the park’s extensive capabilities and investment potential.
During discussions, GCL presented their gas development project in the Ogaden region. The company plans to extract and export natural gas through the Damerjog Port, marking a significant step in regional energy cooperation. A dedicated floating storage barge will be installed at Damerjog for the liquefaction and storage of gas prior to export.
The project will focus on gas liquefaction to enable large-scale export. Production is expected to reach 220,000 cubic meters per day, with transportation managed by a fleet of 120 trucks pipeline transport logistic, operating between Gallup and Damerjog. Most of these trucks have already deployed at the Doraleh Multipurpose Port (DMP) and will soon be dispatched to Damerjog Industrial Park. The Damerjog Industrial Park is a cornerstone of Djibouti’s strategy to position itself as a regional and international energy and logistics hub. It features the common-user oil jetty Damerjog Liquid Bulk Port with an annual handling capacity of 25 million tonnes which can accommodate Aframax vessels of 120 000 DWT.
This world class infrastructure will allow multiple terminals to receive petroleum products via nine dedicated piggable Lines.
