DSRY Begins Repair and Maintenance Works on MV Africa Sun
On Wednesday, October 15th, the Djibouti Ship Repair Yard (DSRY) started maintenance operations on the MV/Africa Sun at 9:30 a.m.
The repair and maintenance works include:
- Hull and underwater inspections
- Electrical and automation systems
- Structural and deck repairs
- Tank and piping systems
- Safety and regulatory compliance
A total of 150 skilled workers have been mobilized to carry out the maintenance operations, ensuring high-quality standards and timely completion of the project.
Following this tailored maintenance program, the MV/Africa Sun will resume service, operating regular routes between the ports of Djibouti, Jeddah, Port Sudan, Massawa, Jebel Ali, and Port Khalifa, thereby strengthening regional maritime connectivity.
The Djibouti-flagged fleet is composed of five vessels: Three dedicated to Red Sea Bunkering operations and two operated by the Djibouti Shipping Company.
The Djibouti Ship Repair Yard is the largest ship repair yard on the Red Sea and East Africa. It is the first facility of its kind in the Red Sea with such capacity and is also the leading ship repair yard in East Africa.
