French navy’s Charles de Gaulle in Djibouti

Once again, The French Navy vessels, including the Charles de Gaulle, were in the Port of Djibouti for a scheduled stopover at our facilities from March 29 to April 2.

The Harbour Master Office successfully facilitated the docking of the legendary aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, and other warships of the French Navy, at the Port of Djibouti.

Docking an aircraft carrier like Charles de Gaulle is a highly delicate and precise maneuver, requiring flawless coordination and expertise.

The docking was masterfully executed by two highly skilled Djiboutian pilots, whose expertise and precision reflect the highest international standards of maritime navigation. Their exceptional performance in handling this maneuver is a testament to their technical excellence. They were  supported by the dedicated quay teams, whose unwavering commitment and efficiency played an important role in the seamless execution of this complex operation.

This operation required the deployment of the following maritime assets:

- Four powerful ASD 2411 tugboats, each with a 65-tons thrust capacity and 360° azimuth propulsion.

- One conventional semi-tugboat.

We extend our sincere congratulations to our entire team for their outstanding work and unwavering dedication in handling this major operation.
