Damerjog Liquid Bulk Port : A Modern oil terminal with world-class capacity

Launched in 2020 with a foundation-laying ceremony led by His Excellency Mr. Ismaïl Omar Guelleh,President of the Republic of Djibouti, the Damerjog Oil Terminal is a flagship project under Djibouti Vision 2035. Strategically located southeast of the capital, at the crossroads of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the terminal is designed to position Djibouti as a leading regional and international energy and logistics hub.

The facility features a 2.5-kilometer oil jetty with an annual handling capacity of 25 million tonnes, connected to shore by a 315-meter access bridge leading to a central Matrix Manifold served by nine piggable pipelines. This configuration allows the simultaneous handling of diesel, jet fuel, gasoline, heavy fuel oil,LPG and edible oil. A modular storage depot provides flexible capacity to meet market demand.

Equipped with two berths:

- One for vessels of up to 120,000 DWT

- and another for Medium Range vessels between 6,000 and 30,000 DWT.

The terminal operates with nine modern Marine Loading Arms, ensuring fast, safe, and compliant operations. Access is via a 14-kilometer navigational channel, 18–30 meters deep, fully marked with 15 buoys to accommodate large-tonnage vessels.

The Damerjog Oil Terminal will provide bunkering services to ships transiting the Red Sea, supports domestic fuel imports, facilitates transshipment operations, and supplies landlocked countries. To strengthen multimodal connectivity, Great Horn Investment Holding, in partnership with the Ethiopian–Djiboutian Railway Company is developing a 17-kilometer dedicated rail link from the terminal to Nagad station, which is now in its final planning stage.

By combining advanced technical capacity, strategic location, and modern multimodal links, the Damerjog Oil Terminal reinforces Djibouti’s role as a key gateway for regional and global energy flows.
