The development of a Network Weather Station for Djibouti ports

Mr. Aboubaker Omar Hadi, Chairman of DPFZA, had the privilege of hosting a distinguished delegation today at Red Sea World. Leading the delegation were Professor Tiegang Li, General Manager of the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), and Mr. Mohamed Ismael Nour, General Manager of Djibouti’s Agency of Meteorology.

The primary focus of their meeting revolved around the development of a Network Weather Station, aimed at providing vital marine meteorological services to the ports of Djibouti. This innovative initiative is set to furnish the Ports of Djibouti with precise, real-time meteorological data, including currents and tides information. The ultimate goal is to optimize port operations and enhance ship safety.

This collaboration with the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) represents a significant step forward. It comes in response to Mr. Hadi's prior emphasis on the urgent need for a dedicated marine weather forecasting station, particularly during the challenging climate conditions experienced in the months of June, July, and August, characterized by the notorious Khamsin phenomenon.
