Djibouti as a Hub for Azerbaijani Investment in Africa
This morning, the Chairman received the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Ruslan Nasibov, at Red Sea World and held a conference call with Mr. Taleh M. Ziyadov, Director-General of the Port of Baku at caspian sea.
The discussions focused on Azerbaijan’s growing interest in expanding investments across Africa. Emphasis was placed on Djibouti’s unique position as a strategic gateway to the continent, supported by its advantageous location. The first Djibouti Free Trade Zone was created in 1954.
Currently Azerbaijan uses the black sea for maritime trade and seeks to use now as an alternative outlet the indian ocean and the red sea.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan explained that the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ) in Azerbaijan was created following the irish model.

Both zones serve as dynamic platforms for fostering economic growth, trade facilitation, and investment opportunities.
