His Excellency Mr.Hassan Houmed, Minister of Infrastructure and Equipment, and Mr.Aboubaker Omar Hadi, Chairman of  Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority, had the honor of welcoming, at Red Sea World, a high-level Ethiopian delegation led by His Excellency Dr. Alemu Sime, Minister of Transport and Logistics. 

The delegation also included His Excellency Dr. Girma Amente, Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Dhenge Boru, Minister of State for Transport and Logistics, as well as His Excellency Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Mr. Berhanu Tesgaye, accompanied by official Ethiopian delegations.

This meeting is coinciding with the launch of the fertilizer transport season through the Ports of Djibouti, is part of the ongoing strengthening of logistical and infrastructural cooperation between Djibouti and Ethiopia.

The Chairman stated that both physical and non-physical challenges are trade barriers. Additionally, the Chairman mentioned that the physical barrier will be resolved quickly.

The road construction progress of National Route 1 (RN1) was fully discussed .It was mentioned that difficulties to build segment Yoboki- Galmo due climate change heavy rain and torrent interrupting the construction but despite the force majeure events ,the construction of bridges are progressing and being build. 

Other aspects such as the public cross-border trade & transport people to people (Galafi-Hawli via road/ Balho-Elidar via road / Galilee-Dewenleh via rail and road), the creation of shared parking facilities for heavy trucks in Djibouti and Ethiopia, and the improvement of empty container management for export were discussed, demonstrating a shared commitment to facilitating the movement of commercial vehicles and optimizing logistical operations.

These constructive discussions reflect the mutual commitment to continuously improve existing infrastructure, thus facilitating bilateral trade and contributing to great horn Africa economic integration.
