New Generation of Female Marine Officiers Begins Service

Yesterday, 22 newly graduated all female marine officers officially began their duties within the Harbor Master’s Office at the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority. They are composed of 18 deck officers and 4 engineers.

These officers are part of a group of Djiboutian women who departed in 2021 for training at the prestigious Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria, Egypt.

Their return marks a proud milestone for Djibouti, symbolizing progress, empowerment, and the growing role of women in shaping the nation’s maritime future.

An Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport will be soon opened in Djibouti.
