The official signing of the MoU for the Djibouti corridor

As part of the high-level ministerial meeting held over the past few days, the chairman participated yesterday evening in the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Djibouti corridor, also known as "the Djibouti-Ethiopia-South Sudan-Uganda (DESSU)" corridor.

This Memorandum of Understanding aims to enhance regional integration by establishing a land corridor that connects the participating countries, promoting cooperation and economic growth.

The Maputo-Johannesburg Corridor and the Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lubumbashi Corridor are the business models.
The Djibouti Corridor is expected to usher in a new era of growth and infrastructure development for the concerned countries.

The 4 Ministers expressed their sentiments during the signing event, affirming:
“Now we are also connected by land, in addition to the air connection.”
They also highlighted the strategic importance of the Port of Djibouti, stating:
“The Port of Djibouti is one of the most important in Africa. The fact that we are connected to Djibouti port is a game changer.”

The signing of this MoU marks a significant milestone in fostering stronger ties, facilitating trade and infrastructure development in the region.

The chairman stated: " This MoU is more than a business venture, it is a family reunion!"
