President of Galmudug Visits Damerjog Industrial Park

As part of his official visit to Djibouti, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Abdi Karie, President of the Galmudug State of Somalia, toured the state-of-the-art infrastructure of the Damerjog Industrial Park. The delegation was led by His Excellency Mr. Said Nouh Hassan, Minister of Interior.

The delegation first visited the Damerjog Oil Terminal, a flagship project of Djibouti Vision 2035, designed to position Djibouti as a leading regional and international energy and logistics hub. The terminal consists of a 2.5-kilometer oil jetty connected to the shore by a 315-meter access bridge, with an annual handling capacity of 25 million tonnes. It is equipped with a central Matrix Manifold served by nine bidirectional pipelines, enabling the simultaneous handling of diesel, jet fuel, gasoline, heavy fuel oil, LPG, and edible oil. A modular storage depot provides flexible capacity tailored to market demand.

The terminal has two berths: one accommodating vessels up to 120,000 DWT, and another for Medium Range vessels between 6,000 and 30,000 DWT. Nine modern marine loading arms ensure fast, safe, and fully compliant operations. Maritime access is secured by a 14-kilometer navigation channel, 18 to 30 meters deep, fully marked with 15 buoys to accommodate large-tonnage vessels. The terminal plays a strategic role by offering bunkering services to vessels transiting the Red Sea, supporting domestic fuel imports, facilitating transshipment operations, and supplying landlocked countries in the region.

The delegation then visited the showroom of the Damerjog Industrial Park, where the operations of the Djibouti Damerjog Industrial Park (DDIP) were presented. This industrial free zone project focuses on strategic sectors such as heavy industry, oil, gas and edible oil.

At the conclusion of the visit, H.E. Ahmed Abdi Karie stated that he was honored, along with his delegation, to witness firsthand the progress and development achieved in Djibouti. He expressed his best wishes for continued success and exemplary advancement in the country’s path toward progress.
