RwandAir is set to launch Inaugural Cargo Flights from Kigali to Djibouti

Yesterday, during the Chairman's formal visit to Rwanda, a significant announcement was made following a meeting with His Excellency Prof. Jean Chrysostome Ngabitsinze, the Minister of Commerce of Rwanda. The discussions centered on reinforcing existing partnerships and exploring avenues for infrastructure development.

A groundbreaking moment emerged during these talks: RwandAir is set to initiate its first cargo flights from Kigali to Djibouti, starting tomorrow, the 15th of May 2024.

This announcement comes as part of a broader effort to enhance connectivity and streamline logistics within the region.

The Sea-Air Cargo model, a pioneering initiative spanning 21 countries and 24 cities, aims to facilitate the efficient movement of goods worldwide and promote regional integration.

Additionally, discussions revolved around the strategic utilization of 20 hectares of land allocated to Rwanda for development projects. Proposed ventures include the establishment of cold storage facilities, hotels, shopping malls, and a marina bay to boost tourism, with Rwanda committing a total investment of USD 160 Million.

The partnership between the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) and the Rwandan Ministry of Commerce exemplifies a concerted effort to harness economic opportunities and foster mutual growth.
