Saudi products to be traded from DIFTZ to the sub-region and beyond

As part of the high-level Saudi delegation's visit to Djibouti, the Djibouti-Saudi Business Forum was held on June 4th, at Hotel Ayla. The highlight of this forum was the groundbreaking signing ceremony between Great Horn Investment Holding, represented by Chairman Mr. Aboubaker Omar Hadi, and the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, represented by Chairman Mr. Hassan Al-Huwaizi.

The agreement involves the long-term lease of a 120,000 sqm land plot in the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone (DIFTZ). This plot will be crucial in attracting Saudi business investors and opening the African market to Saudi-made products. Moving forward, Saudi products will be traded from DIFTZ to the sub-region and beyond.

The delegation continued their visit with a tour of the Société de Gestion de Terminal à Conteneur (SGTD), which is ranked by the World Bank as the top port in Sub-Saharan Africa and third on the continent. SGTD boasts state-of-the-art port facilities.

Following their visit to SGTD, the delegation toured the Djibouti Multipurpose Port (DMP), where they were introduced to various facilities, including the storage area for livestock export.

The Chairman of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry and his esteemed delegation of businessmen then visited Damerjog, where they had the opportunity to experience firsthand the Djibouti Damerjog Industrial Development (DDID). DDID is dedicated to the development of heavy industries and features an advanced oil jetty.
